During my residency in Dresden, sponsored by the Greater Columbus Arts Council in partnership with the State of Saxony, I have researched local archives and landmarks for a new body of work that investigates the subject of ruins. I am interested in how ruins inspire imagination through repair or an acceptance of loss. Utilizing photography, drawing, and video, I explored sites such as Trümmerberg Heller and Trümmerberg Friedrichstadt, Ruine Pillnitz, the Lapidarium, the Carolabrücke, and a collection of archival images from the Deutsche Fotothek. You are invited to view work created during my residency at an open studio in Kunsthaus Raskolnikow on July 26th.
